At the Burgundian Court

Choreography: Martina Olejárová, Robert Plesný
Music: Canora
Story, costumes and direction: Martina Olejárová
Duration: 17 minuts

The theme of the performance is celebration of favourite day of love – St. Valentine at the late gothic court of the Duchy of Burgundy. Uneasy    …. of the Duke of Burgundy are accompanied by the medieval court dances  (basse dance, saltarello, piva, quaternaria, branle) with veils and small tambourines.
Attractive costumes with high caps with veils (henins) are faithful replics of the Burgundian fashion from this period. Choreography of the dance comes out of preserved historical sources (The Manuscript of Burgundy „Les basses danses de Marguerite d’Autriche“  from 1490).
